The School of Diplomacy is a learning center for the study of international relations and diplomacy dedicated to high standards of academic excellence and professional training, extending the frontiers of knowledge, and making a difference in the rapidly changing global environment. The School of Diplomacy brings together diplomats, scholars, students, and professionals from across to explore global challenges to better understand theory and practice.


The School’s programs are unique and use an interactive approach to give participants an opportunity to immerse themselves in international relations. The school offers study abroad programs and cultural enrichment experiences that bring together students and professionals from all around the world. The programs provide academic and social activities intended to spread international understanding. In addition, our programs encourage students to discover and develop common interests with students living
throughout the world.

The Leadership Challenges and Diplomacy Program is designed to help you understand who you are and what career path you need to choose. Students explore their strengths and talents by visiting sites of global organizations and by participating in interactive leadership workshops. Students have the chance to meet and learn with inspiring leaders and participate in fun interactive site visits. During the LCD, students participate in a variety of interactive workshops that help them gain:


  • Developing visions and goals 

  • Operating in Group Dynamics

  • Negotiation

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Team Building

  • The Distinctions of Leadership

  • Persuasive Communication

 

LAW IN ACTION (LA)

9th to 12th, University and Professionals

This program is designed to build concrete leadership skills through legal discussions and workshop exercises. The LA Program engages students in the world of international law by featuring visits to legal facilities, such as district and federal courts, federal prisons and administrative offices, police departments, law firms, and law schools. Students will step inside a courtroom and watch a real case unfold, and they will analyze, examine, and participate in case studies. This program focuses on the legal and ethical aspects of law, as well as the impacts of legal processes. Interactive lectures and small-group workshops will give students an opportunity to build upon their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.


LA program participants will act on behalf of English speaking clients, prepare contracts, letters and other written legal documents, conduct court proceedings in English, improving their oral skills in a legal context. The LA lecture topics include the judiciary system, the legal aid system, the legal education system, civil procedure, and extradition law. Students will meet with and learn from leaders in the legal community, special guest speakers, and accomplished attorneys. Legal English curriculum is adapted to numerous sectors and topic areas such as international trade law, immigration law, product liability law, international property law, corporate finance law, and national security law. Students will learn how to demonstrate effective strategies and conflict management, as well as public speaking and team building skills needed for a successful legal career.

 

GLOBAL DIPLOMACY AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS (GDPA)

Grade: 9th to 12th, University

The Global Diplomacy and Public Affairs Program is an interactive approach to learning that gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the challenges of world affairs. This program provides students with special access to foreign officials and experts who will shape the future of international relations. Students will gain knowledge of global relations that will set them apart in their diplomatic careers. Participants attend conferences held by prestigious institutes that discuss the global development goals. Students also visit departments of foreign affairs, embassies, and international organizations to explore work in international relations and diplomacy. The lecture series provides a foundation for success in a career in international relations. Lecture topics include:



  • Theories of International Relations

  • Law and Globalization

  • Refugees and Human Rights

  • Peace and Conflict


Interactive lectures and workshops give students an opportunity to build upon their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Leadership topics tailored to the GDPA program include:


  • Public Speaking

  • Negotiation

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Decision Making

  • Interpersonal Communication

 

WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (WLP)

9th to 12th

The Women’s Leadership Program is designed for girls who want to explore contemporary leadership techniques and what it means to be a leader locally and globally. This program’s curriculum is designed to build concrete leadership skills while working as a team by exploring the challenges and accomplishments women face in the world. Students have an opportunity to build upon their strengths and work to improve their weaknesses through interactive lectures and workshops. Leadership topics tailored to the program include:


  • Behaviors and Group Dynamics

  • Importance of Teaming

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Negotiation and Effective Presentations


Students will engage with and learn from women leaders who are transforming their professions and are defining women's leadership for the future. Students will visit places such as museums, universities, private and public organizations, and other places of significance that will help them recognize and expand their leadership skills.
